Mastercam Lathe Finishing is designed to deliver exceptional surface quality and precision in turning processes through its versatile features. This operation enables the finishing of both external and internal profiles and is especially well suited for finishing shaft-, sleeve-, and flange-shaped workpieces.

Mastercam Lathe Finishing supports tool checking and chip breaking, just like rough turning. The tool checking feature allows the tool to be returned to the home position or to a user-defined location after a specified number of cuts, machining distance, or elapsed time. This helps ensure optimal tool condition and process continuity in demanding machining conditions. The chip-breaking function is particularly useful when machining long-stringy materials such as nylon and unalloyed copper. Mastercam Lathe Finishing also includes an automatic corner-rounding or chamfering feature that effectively removes sharp edges and improves part safety and usability. During finishing, the feed rate can also be adjusted while rounding, ensuring a consistent and flawless surface finish. The machining sequence can be selected using five different methods: alternating, walls only, horizontal surfaces only, walls first followed by horizontal surfaces, or horizontal surfaces first followed by walls. This versatility gives users the flexibility to apply the method best suited to the workpiece being machined.
