Camcut Group – A Bold Step Toward Internationalization

28.10.2025

The Finnish technical trade company Camcut Oy is taking a significant step in its growth story by expanding its operations into Sweden.

Camcut imports and sells high-quality cutting tools, measuring instruments, workholding and fixture solutions, metalworking fluids, and various machine shop supplies, as well as technical software. A large part of its business is services, including CAM software training and programming and process planning services. These are now offered almost weekly around Finland to support the everyday operations and development of machine shops.

“When we started as a two-man business in Ylä-Savo in 2014, we couldn’t have imagined our operations would expand this quickly. Our goal was to serve local machine shops in North Savo and Kainuu. Today, we serve customers throughout Finland with a five-person team,” recalls CEO Mikko Vepsäläinen. The company’s revenue in 2024 rose to nearly three million euros. With this growth came the need for the next big step—internationalization. For this purpose, Camcut Group has been established as a parent company, under which both Camcut Oy in Finland and the new Camcut AB in Sweden operate.

Walter Tools Encouraged Expansion into Sweden

One of Camcut’s key partners is Walter Tools—a German manufacturer of cutting tools that is part of the Sandvik Group—which encouraged Camcut to take its business model to Sweden as well. Camcut is a Gold-level reseller in Walter’s Channel Partner program, a recognition achieved by only a select few partners globally.

“Walter has always been more than just a supplier to us. Their support and belief in our concept has been vital. Together, we’ve introduced modern machining methods and digital solutions to Finnish machine shops, and now we’re taking the same path in Sweden,” says Chairman of the Board Janne Pesonen.

Vepsäläinen adds: “Walter’s extensive product range and technical support, combined with our complete set of services, provide customers with solutions where every detail has been thought through. Naturally, we want to take this success story beyond Finland’s borders together.”

Digital Solutions and a Network of Partners in the Spotlight

Camcut is known for its comprehensive service and innovative digital solutions. One of the most visible is the Camcut mobile app, which has already been downloaded nearly 200,000 times worldwide. The app serves as a technical manual for machine shops, providing calculators, tables, and guides to aid day-to-day production work.

However, the success is underpinned by a broad network of partners. In addition to representing product brands, this includes e-commerce and app developers, the accounting office, and other collaborators. “We often have ideas we want to implement right away. Our partners have sometimes had to realize some of our more ambitious visions quickly—and occasionally encourage us to be more realistic about deadlines. Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today,” Vepsäläinen says gratefully.

Pesonen adds: “To us, our partners aren’t just service providers—they’re a true part of our growth journey. Thanks to them, we’ve been able to realize creative visions and elevate technical trade to a new level for the 2020s—not just selling, but genuinely serving customers and growing together.”

Nordic Synergy and Knowledge Sharing

Camcut’s expansion into Sweden opens up new opportunities for both markets. Synergies arise as teams can support each other across borders. “This is an excellent opportunity to learn and develop expertise. Going forward, our Finnish team can support Sweden, and vice versa. Knowledge and skills will move in both directions, strengthening the entire Group,” Pesonen notes.

Vepsäläinen also sees the expansion as a chance to renew: “By seeing how things are done in Sweden, we can bring the best practices to Finland and combine them with our own expertise. In the end, our customers on both sides of the Gulf of Bothnia will benefit.”

Revamped Look and Unified International Identity

With international expansion, Camcut’s digital identity is also being revamped. At the same time, the company’s website address will change to www.camcut-group.com, and new email addresses will follow the format [email protected]. In Finland, the general sales contact will be updated to [email protected]. While the new addresses will be introduced immediately, the old ones will continue to work for a transitional period. However, the company recommends updating your contact details to the new addresses as soon as possible.

“The website and email renewal are part of a larger process in which we’re building a unified international identity. We want Camcut to be visible and work under the same brand in Finland and abroad,” Vepsäläinen explains. The revamped website will be published soon. Its interface, appearance, and content structure will also be updated to better serve international customers. “The site will become more intuitive and customer-oriented. It’s part of the same development work through which we’re also building a new e-commerce platform and AI-based solutions,” Pesonen adds.

Growth with a Bold Approach

Camcut’s growth story is proof that even in a traditional industry, success can be achieved through boldness and continuous development. The group structure brings added credibility and stability, but at the same time, the company wants to maintain its original agility and customer focus.
“We never hit Cycle Stop on our machine tool halfway through a process—we’ve only been increasing our cutting values. Growth and innovation have always been part of Camcut’s DNA,” Vepsäläinen sums up.

Pesonen, for his part, highlights the future direction: “We want to be the most dynamic partner for machine shops—not just in Finland, but internationally as well. Expanding into Sweden is a natural next step, but whether we’ll stop there or go as far as Italy someday, we don’t yet know. Internationalization is a long-term goal for us.”
