Camcut AB strengthens its operations in Sweden with an experienced machining specialist
Camcut AB is strengthening its local operations in Sweden as Jan-Erik Saukko, with approximately 25 years of experience in metal cutting, has started as a Technical Sales Specialist. Based in southern Stockholm, Saukko is responsible for technical sales and the development of customer relationships, primarily in the Stockholm region, Mälardalen, Uppland, and the Uppsala region.
Jan-Erik’s work focuses in particular on cutting tools and tooling solutions from Walter Tools, as well as other solutions for the manufacturing industry represented by Camcut. Thanks to his long background in machining, his role is not only about selling individual products, but about understanding the customer’s production and finding practically workable solutions to develop their machining processes.
Jan-Erik is Camcut AB’s first technical sales representative working locally in Sweden, but behind the Swedish operations stands the entire Camcut Group organization. The Group’s shared resources support Camcut AB in areas such as customer service, order management, purchasing, invoicing, logistics, marketing, and the development of digital services.
“We are not building operations in Sweden around a single person. Jan-Erik is responsible for local sales and customer work, but he has the expertise of the entire Group and our partners at his disposal. For us, it is important that the customer has a local contact person who understands metal cutting in practice and can discuss production at the same technical level as the customer,” says Janne Pesonen, Managing Director of Camcut AB.

25 years of experience in metal cutting and CNC manufacturing
Jan-Erik Saukko’s interest in metalworking was sparked already during his studies and led to a long career in the manufacturing industry. During his professional career, he has worked at, among others, MG Instrument, LK Precision Parts and, most recently, for almost ten years at LKAB Wassara AB.
Over the years, Saukko has built up broad hands-on experience in turning, milling, CNC machining, and industrial manufacturing. In addition to his machining experience, he has nearly ten years of experience with CAM software and modern high-performance toolpaths, especially in GibbsCAM.
The combination of practical machining and CAM programming makes it possible to see the customer’s situation from a wider perspective than just choosing a single tool. Besides the tool, for example, programming, machining strategy, fixturing, cutting data, machine characteristics, and the functioning of the entire manufacturing process can all affect the final solution.
“When you have stood at the machine yourself and programmed the parts, you understand that everything in production is interconnected. Not even a good tool solves everything if the rest of the process does not support it. For me, it is important to first understand what the customer is manufacturing and where the real challenge lies,” Saukko explains.
Solving technical problems and continuously developing his skills has been a central part of his professional life.
“In metal cutting, the learning really never ends. Materials, tools, machines, and methods are constantly evolving. I want to share my own experience with customers, but it is just as important to listen to their experiences and continue learning myself. The best solutions are usually found together.”
Jan-Erik Saukko is responsible for Camcut AB’s technical sales and development of customer relationships in Sweden. With around 25 years of hands-on experience in metal cutting, he has a strong foundation for helping customers develop their production and machining processes.
Even though Saukko has tried other roles during his career, the manufacturing industry has always drawn him back.
“My heart belongs to the industry,” he summarizes.
In his new role, Saukko is especially looking forward to customer visits, meeting new people, and the opportunity to use his long machining experience from a new perspective.
“It is interesting to see different production environments and solve very different kinds of challenges in metal cutting. The customer may have a small, individual problem or a larger need to develop the entire process. Both are equally interesting when you get to work on them in practice.”
Saukko serves customers fluently in Swedish, Finnish, and English.
Before he started working directly with customers, he spent his first workweek together with the Camcut Group team in Finland. During the onboarding, they went through Camcut’s products, systems, ways of working, and partners and built up practical cooperation with the people who support Camcut AB’s daily operations.
The Camcut Group’s administrative organization serves the Group’s companies across borders. For example, Administration Manager Salla Pesonen is responsible for customer service, order management, purchasing, invoicing, logistics, and delivery coordination also for Camcut AB’s customers. Jan-Erik, in turn, focuses on local sales, customer visits, and technical customer work.
“The first week was a good way to quickly get into how Camcut works and to get to know the people behind my work. Even though I work in Sweden and meet customers here, I am not doing the job alone. The entire organization stands behind me,” says Saukko.
Close cooperation with Walter Tools continues in Sweden
Walter Tools has been one of Camcut’s most important partners since the company was founded. Camcut is a Gold Level Channel Partner for Walter Tools, and Walter’s cutting tools and tooling solutions form an important part of Camcut AB’s offering in Sweden as well.
At the beginning of his new role, Jan-Erik took part in intensive product training on Walter Tools products and solutions together with Anders Oxonius, Application Engineer / Technical Trainer at Walter Norden, and Jörgen Frisendahl, Sales Manager – Sweden & Export Markets at Walter Tools. The cooperation with Walter Tools already has a strong practical foundation. Jan-Erik and Anders Oxonius are former colleagues, and their previous cooperation is now continuing in a new form, with Jan-Erik working in technical sales at Camcut AB and Anders as a technical specialist and trainer at Walter Norden. Together with Jörgen Frisendahl and the rest of Walter’s organization, this creates excellent conditions for close cooperation on customers and technical solutions in the Swedish market.
“It feels good to continue working with Anders and at the same time work closely with Jörgen and the rest of Walter’s organization in my new role. Anders and I have known each other for a long time, so it is easy to discuss technical issues directly and practically. Walter’s product range is extensive, and close cooperation with their technical organization and sales is a key part of our ability to help customers even in demanding machining situations,” says Saukko.
According to Pesonen, close cooperation with the manufacturers’ technical and commercial organizations is a central part of how Camcut works.
“Walter Tools has long been a very important partner for us. In Sweden, we want to build our operations so that local customer work, Camcut AB’s expertise, and Walter’s technical and commercial organization support each other. Jan-Erik’s and Anders’ previous cooperation, as well as Jörgen’s role in the Swedish market, give us a very strong foundation for this,” says Pesonen.

During the training, Jörgen and Anders introduced Jan-Erik to Walter Tools’ products, solutions, and their practical application in metal cutting. The close cooperation with Walter Tools supports Camcut AB’s technical sales and customer work in Sweden.
From practical expertise to a broader service offering
Camcut was founded in 2014 based on the idea that cutting tools, CAM software, and expert services for manufacturing should be viewed as a single whole that supports the same manufacturing process.
In just over ten years, operations have expanded from cutting tools and CAM software to solutions for tool and workpiece holding, measurement and quality assurance, workshop products, digital services, and expert services for developing manufacturing processes.
Camcut serves several hundred customers, from small machine shops to large international industrial companies and technical education organizations. The partner network includes more than 40 international manufacturers, software companies, and technology firms.
In addition to products, the operations include training, technical support, implementation, CAM programming, and process planning. The idea is, when needed, to go deeper than a single tool and review the entire manufacturing process together with the customer.
“Jan-Erik’s background fits well with how we want to work with technical sales. We do not go to the customer just to present products. First we need to understand what is being manufactured, in which machine, with which method, and where the challenges in the process lie. Only then can we assess which solution will actually benefit the customer,” Pesonen says.
Key people from Camcut Group introduced Jan-Erik to Camcut’s products, systems, and ways of working during his first week.
Operations in Sweden are part of Camcut Group’s international growth
Camcut Group was founded in 2025 to create a foundation for international growth. The Group consists of Camcut Oy and Camcut AB, which is responsible for operations in Sweden. The Group’s shared resources are used to support the local companies in areas such as administration, marketing, business development, and digital services.
Sweden was chosen as the first new market partly due to the country’s strong manufacturing industry and discussions with Camcut’s long-term partners.
The intention is not to copy an existing business model directly to a new market, but to combine the Group’s existing expertise with a local presence and build operations together with Swedish customers.
“Camcut Group’s role is to develop shared services, expertise, and digital solutions that can be used locally in different markets. In Sweden, Jan-Erik’s practical experience in metal cutting and his local customer work are now combined with the overall offering we have built up over more than ten years,” says Mikko Vepsäläinen, Managing Director of Camcut Group.
Digital services are part of Camcut Group’s shared operations. The free Camcut app, launched in 2018, has been downloaded more than 200,000 times worldwide and already several thousand times in Sweden.
The app is designed as a technical handbook for machine operators, CAM programmers, production engineers, students, and other professionals in the manufacturing industry. It includes, among other things, extensive threading data and ISO tolerance tables, calculation tools for metal cutting and other technical calculators, as well as various tables and guides.
The app is free of charge and available in 11 languages, including Swedish.
“The starting point for the app is very practical. We wanted to bring together the technical information that is continuously needed in the workshop in one place so that it can be quickly found even on a mobile phone. The Swedish content has been available in the app for a long time, and now that our local operations are growing, its importance is increasing even more,” says Vepsäläinen.
Camcut is also active on social media. On Facebook, the Swedish audience is served by Camcut Sverige, where Swedish-language content on metal cutting, tools, technology, and other current topics in the manufacturing industry is published. On LinkedIn, Instagram, and YouTube, Camcut operates under the name Camcut Group. The most viewed video on the YouTube channel has received nearly two million views.
The goal is long-term partnerships with Swedish machine shops
During the training, Camcut Group’s staff, who support Camcut AB’s operations, also introduced Jan-Erik to Camcut’s broad range of partners and solutions, including Walter Tools, Toolhive, up2parts, Kemmler, and Mahr.
Camcut AB’s operations in Sweden are being built step by step. With Jan-Erik’s start, there is now a local technical specialist with hands-on experience in metal cutting working directly in customers’ production environments.
Behind him are the other employees of Camcut Group, a partner network of more than 40 manufacturers and technology companies, as well as technical experts from, among others, Walter Tools. These resources can be combined when needed to solve the customer’s problems or develop their production.
“For me, the most important thing is to build trust with the customer. That is not created by trying to sell as much as possible on the first visit, but by listening, understanding the production, and being able to help when there is a real need. If the customer feels that they can call me even when a difficult technical situation arises, then we are on the right track,” says Saukko.
According to Pesonen, this way of working is exactly what Camcut AB’s operations should be built around.
“In Sweden, our goal is to do the same thing we have done for more than ten years: help companies in the manufacturing industry to develop their production, efficiency, and competitiveness. We combine cutting tools, software solutions, and our expert services into a whole backed by our solid hands-on expertise in metal cutting. We want to be a technical partner that can take part in developing the customer’s entire manufacturing process,” says Pesonen.
