Mastercam Training
Camcut is Mastercam’s official training provider in Finland, offering practical Mastercam training for companies and educational institutions throughout the country. Training can be conducted at the customer’s premises, as a short remote session, or through Finnish-language training videos. The content is always tailored to the users’ skill levels, Mastercam licenses, machine tools, parts being manufactured, and production objectives.
Mastercam Training for Real Production Needs
Our Mastercam training is not based on a standard course package that is delivered in the same way to every customer. The training is built around the customer’s actual needs, and the content can also be adjusted flexibly during the training based on the participants’ skill levels, questions, and challenges identified in production.
The training is not limited to learning how to use Mastercam to create a program for a machine tool. The goal is to learn how to create safe, efficient, and practical CNC programs that take process planning, tool selection, the definition of appropriate cutting parameters, process reliability, and overall profitability into account.
Mastercam training is available for new users, experienced CAM programmers, machinists, process planners, production developers, and teaching staff at educational institutions. Training can begin with the software interface and fundamentals or focus directly on advanced multi-axis machining, Mill-Turn programming, or solving a specific production challenge faced by the customer.

Training is held at the customer’s own premises.
On-site training is primarily held at the customer’s own facilities throughout Finland. Participants do not need to travel to a separate training location; instead, the training takes place where programming and production are normally carried out.
Our instructor always brings preconfigured laptops with Mastercam software and licenses to the training, so the customer only needs to provide a suitable training space. If desired, the training can also be conducted using the customer’s own workstations and Mastercam licenses.
The training content is adapted to the customer’s Mastercam version, license level, and machine environment. Using the latest software version is not required.
On-site training is most effective for groups of fewer than six participants. In larger groups, users’ skill levels, job responsibilities, and available machine tools may vary considerably. In such cases, it is often advisable to divide participants into separate groups based on factors such as starting level, machine type, or the parts being manufactured.
Mastercam Training Using the Customer’s Own Parts
Training is generally conducted using the customer’s own products and real production situations. However, there is no need to provide the trainer with production drawings, 3D models, or completed programs in advance.
Participants see how the trainer examines a new part, evaluates its manufacturability, plans the work steps, and builds a Mastercam program from the same starting information that users themselves would have in their normal work.
This means the training is not a rehearsed presentation of a solution that has been fully planned in advance. The training includes planning, comparing alternatives, discussion, and explanations of why a particular machining strategy, tooling solution, or work sequence is suitable for the situation at hand.
The training can also address participants’ unfinished programs, problems encountered in production, and questions for which users have not found a workable solution.

From the Basics to Advanced Multi-Axis Machining
Mastercam training can be tailored entirely to the user’s skill level and production needs. With new users, training can begin with the software interface, geometry creation, and the fundamentals of toolpaths. With more experienced users, the focus can be placed on topics such as multi-axis machining, toolpath optimization, Mill-Turn programming, or manufacturing process development.
Training topics may include, for example, the Mastercam user interface, managing planes and views, creating and editing 2D geometry, working with 3D models, defining stock and fixturing, managing tools and holders, creating toolpaths, simulation, program verification, and optimizing toolpaths and cutting parameters.
Training is available for three-axis vertical machining centers, 3+1-axis horizontal machining centers, 3+2-axis boring mills, five-axis machining centers, CNC lathes, B-axis Mill-Turn multitasking lathes, Swiss-type automatic lathes, vertical carousel lathes, and wire EDM machines.
Training content can also be tailored to the customer’s specific machine environment, the material being machined, or the production volume.
Method-Oriented Mastercam Training
Mastercam proficiency is only one part of successful CAM programming. A good CNC program must work safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively in practice.
That is why Camcut’s Mastercam training takes a process-oriented approach. In addition to software operation, the training covers, as appropriate, tool selection, cutting parameters, work sequence, workholding, toolpath structure, and other factors that affect the final manufacturing result.
The training evaluates, for example, whether the workpiece remains securely clamped throughout the entire manufacturing process, whether the tools and cutting values are suitable for the task, whether programming or machining time can be reduced, whether the tools will achieve the planned service life, and whether the required dimensional accuracy and surface quality can be achieved.
At the same time, we examine whether operations can be reduced, transfers or handling eliminated, and the entire manufacturing method made more reliable and profitable.
Our customers have achieved benefits through training in programming time, machining time, tool life, process reliability, and the level of workpiece finishing. In the training, Mastercam programming is always considered as part of the entire manufacturing process—not as a separate operation.

Training and Process Development in One Comprehensive Package
Many customers want to improve their own production as part of the training. In these cases, the training day can also be used to evaluate existing parts, machining operations, and programming methods.
The training can be built around a new product, a long machining time, a challenging machining strategy, short tool life, an unreliable process, or a demanding multi-axis part, for example.
The training can include an assessment of the part’s manufacturability, the sequence of machining operations, the number of setups, toolpath selection, tooling solutions, utilization of the machine’s axes, and program safety. The method can be designed for existing production or for manufacturing an entirely new part.
The solution always takes the customer’s actual resources into account, including the machine tools, Mastercam license levels, tooling, workholding solutions, materials to be machined, production quantities, and the objectives set for production.
Mastercam Implementation and Skills Development
Mastercam training can be integrated into the implementation of new software or a new machine environment. New users are first taught the software’s core operating principles, after which the training is expanded to reflect the customer’s own machines, products, and manufacturing methods.
When needed, Camcut also supports customers with programming their first production parts and putting the methods learned during training into practice. This ensures that Mastercam becomes a controlled part of the customer’s daily programming and production processes.
Training is also available for implementing new Mastercam versions. The training covers the key updates in the new version while also reviewing the customer’s current working methods. The goal is not simply to present new features, but to identify where they can provide practical benefits in the customer’s own production.
Training can be delivered as a single training day or as part of a longer skills development program.

Continuous Learning Model
Expertise in Mastercam and modern machining methods develops best step by step. It is not practical to cover everything in a single training session, as participants benefit from applying what they have learned in their own production before moving on to the next topic.
Camcut provides both individual training days and longer, step-by-step training programs. For many customers, training continues as a long-term development partnership.
During the initial training, the agreed topics can be covered, after which participants apply the methods they have learned in their own work. A few months later, follow-up training can be used to address questions that have arisen in production, deepen expertise, and move on to more demanding toolpaths, machine environments, or software features.
Follow-up training can be agreed upon as part of the initial program or planned later based on how the users’ skills and production needs develop.
Remote Mastercam training
Mastercam software remote training is particularly well suited to situations where the customer has an urgent, clearly defined question or needs to review a specific function, toolpath, new feature, or problem.
Remote training is usually conducted in a lecture-style format via a remote connection. Participants follow the instructor’s desktop view and can ask questions during the training. The training can be focused precisely on the topic where the customer needs assistance, making even a short remote session an effective way to resolve a current question related to using Mastercam.
Remote training is best suited to short, clearly defined topics. For broader, hands-on training based on the customer’s own parts, on-site training generally provides the best conditions for learning how to use the software.
The duration of the training is always agreed upon according to the customer’s needs. Remote training may consist of a short session lasting approximately one hour, for example, while broader training is generally conducted as an on-site session lasting several hours or multiple days.

Mastercam Training Videos for Flexible Learning
Camcut’s Finnish-language Mastercam training videos provide a flexible way to learn the basics of the software, review previously learned topics, and return to a specific subject whenever there is a practical need. The series consists of short, clear videos covering everything from the Mastercam user interface and geometry handling to the key toolpaths, tools, machining parameters, simulation, and program verification used in milling and turning.
In industrial companies, the training videos can be used to onboard new users, support independent study, and review topics covered during instructor-led training. Users can learn at their own pace and return to a specific function, for example when programming a new job, troubleshooting a problematic toolpath, or addressing a question that arises in production. This means that several employees do not need to be taken away from production at the same time for an entire training day.
For educational institutions, the training videos provide ready-made Finnish-language teaching material for Mastercam and modern machining methods. Teachers can use the videos to update their own skills, support classroom instruction, and guide students in independent study. Students can familiarize themselves with the topics before workshop sessions, review what they have learned, and progress through exercises at their own pace, freeing up the teacher’s time for individual guidance and practical work.
The training videos are particularly well suited for learning and reviewing the fundamentals of Mastercam. At their best, they complement instructor-led training held at the customer’s premises: the basics can be learned with the help of the videos, allowing the shared training time to focus on the customer’s own parts, more demanding toolpaths, process development, and real-world production challenges.
Mastercam Training for Educational Institutions
Camcut also provides Mastercam training for vocational schools. The training is primarily intended for teaching staff, but students may also participate.
The goal of training for educational institutions is to provide teaching staff with up-to-date information about Mastercam, the software’s latest features, and modern machining methods. This enables teachers to incorporate current expertise into their own instruction and students’ practical training.
Our trainers understand the operating environment and needs of vocational education through their extensive background in teaching, coaching, and competition activities. Training for educational institutions can be tailored to the machine tools and Mastercam licenses in use, the curriculum, and the staff’s previous experience.
Training can make use of Camcut’s own Mastercam practice parts and training files, which are freely available for download in the support section of our website. Educational institutions can also use these materials in their own instruction at a later date.

Our trainers have trained machinists, CAM programmers, process planners, and teaching staff at companies and educational institutions throughout Finland. The training is based on extensive practical experience in CNC milling, CNC turning, multi-axis machining, production development, and vocational education.
This extensive experience is reflected in the clarity and flexibility of the training. Topics are explained in the language machinists use, and solutions are justified from the perspective of the entire manufacturing process. The goal is not simply to teach Mastercam functions, but to help users understand how to use the software to design safe, efficient, and profitable manufacturing processes.

Support continues after the training too
The training includes the opportunity to contact the trainer after the training has ended. Participants will receive the practice files covered during the training and can ask for advice later on matters related to using Mastercam.
Questions do not need to be limited to the topics covered during the training day. The goal is to maintain communication between the customer and the trainer as the methods learned are applied in practical production.
Upon request, participants will receive a certificate of attendance.
How to Order Mastercam Training
Ordering training begins with contacting us. Together with the customer, we agree on the training objectives, delivery method, number of training days required, and a suitable date. Based on this information, we will provide a quote for the training.
On-site training is priced per day. The total price is affected by the number of training days and any travel and accommodation expenses related to delivering the training. More detailed practical information and the training terms will be provided with the quote.
Training is held on weekdays at the customer’s premises anywhere in Finland. Short, clearly defined topics can also be covered through remote training.
Our Mastercam training is popular, and our trainers’ schedules often fill up well in advance. We generally recommend reserving a suitable date approximately 1–2 months before the desired training date.
