Mastercam Zip2Go Guide
![]()
The Zip2Go feature in Mastercam makes sharing program files easier by collecting all necessary files into a single, compressed package. This is especially useful when you want to share a machining program with support, a colleague, or a client, and ensure that all required reference files—such as tool libraries, machine files, and configuration files—are included.
The Zip2Go package ensures that the recipient sees exactly the same setup as the sender, with no missing links or files. For this reason, it is recommended for use whenever you send Mastercam projects for analysis or troubleshooting.
Creating a Zip2Go File
You can create a Zip2Go file directly from the Mastercam program. Here’s how:
- Go to the “File” tab and select “Zip2Go”. Alternatively, you can use the Zip2Go icon on the Quick Access Toolbar, usually located in the upper left corner of the interface.
- The program will prompt you to save the part file before continuing. This ensures that all the latest changes are included in the package.
- The Zip2Go wizard will open and offer you three options:
- Create
- Edit
- Extract
Select “Create” to make a new Zip2Go package.
- On the File Options page, you can choose which files to include in the Zip2Go package. You can deselect file types or remove individual files from the list at the bottom of the page.
- In the next step, you can optionally add extra files, such as documents, images, or measurement reports that are not generated directly by Mastercam.
- Finally, click “Finish”. The program will prompt you to choose a save location and file type. By default, the save type is set to content file—change this to “Z2G” and save.
This will create a single, easily shareable file containing all the part files and settings your project needs.
Extracting a Zip2Go File
You can open a Zip2Go package on any Mastercam installation. To extract the contents:
- Drag the .Z2G file directly into a new Mastercam session. The Zip2Go wizard will automatically open.
- Select the folder where you want to extract the files. You can choose the “Extract as Flat View” option to have all files appear in the same folder.
After extraction, the project files are immediately available in Mastercam. This streamlines information exchange, collaboration, and troubleshooting.
Mastercam’s Zip2Go is a powerful tool for sharing and archiving projects. It makes handling support requests easier, reduces errors, and ensures that all necessary files travel together in one package. It’s a good idea to make Zip2Go part of your standard workflow whenever you move projects between computers or send them to support for analysis.
