up2parts autoCAM for hyperMILL® is an AI-powered solution that automates and accelerates CAM programming by leveraging a company’s own production data, geometry, and tolerance information. The solution is designed to complement the existing hyperMILL® environment and streamline programming without complex macro- or rule-based solutions.

In many machine shops, CAM programming is still time-consuming and heavily dependent on experienced programmers. Repetitive tasks, manual selections, and inconsistent programming practices consume resources and slow production throughput. up2parts autoCAM addresses these challenges by bringing AI-assisted automation directly into hyperMILL®—making programming up to 70% faster.

Automation within your existing CAM environment

up2parts autoCAM does not replace hyperMILL® or alter your existing CAM infrastructure. Instead, it functions as a fully integrated add-on. The solution creates CAM program suggestions within minutes and transfers them directly to hyperMILL®, where NC code is generated as usual through the postprocessor.

The result is significantly shorter programming times, less manual work, and a more cost-effective CAM process—without compromising quality or control.

How up2parts autoCAM works in hyperMILL®

  1. Open the up2parts autoCAM add-on in hyperMILL® and select the part
    The CAM project is created directly within the familiar hyperMILL® environment.
  2. Automatic suggestions for operations and tools
    up2parts analyzes the part geometry, tolerances, and the company’s own manufacturing strategies, then creates suggestions for operations, tools, cutting parameters, and setups within seconds.
  3. Refinement, simulation, and NC code generation
    The user can modify the suggestions, run a simulation, and generate NC code as usual using the hyperMILL® postprocessor.

All changes made by the user are fed back into up2parts, allowing the AI to learn and adapt even more effectively to the company’s own machining strategies.

AI suggests—the programmer decides

up2parts autoCAM uses AI to create CAM program suggestions without traditional macro- or rule-based logic. The system automatically suggests:

  • machining operations
  • tools
  • setups
  • cutting parameters

Consistent programming practices reduce the workload of experienced CAM programmers and make it easier to train new users. Automation supports expertise—it does not replace it.

Tolerances and PMI as part of CAM programming

up2parts autoCAM uses tolerance information (PMI) when creating CAM programs. If STEP AP242 models are not available, tolerances can be added manually in up2parts.

The CAD model can include, for example:

  • surface roughness
  • threads
  • fits
  • dimensional and geometric tolerances

Tolerances can also be read from PDF drawings and stored structurally with the part. This enables multiple operations to be created automatically according to the tolerance requirements and improves the practical acceptability of the programs in production.

Tools and production data on your company’s terms

Tool data can be imported into up2parts in several ways:

  • CSV or XML import
  • ToolsUnited integration

The system uses the company’s own machines, tools, and manufacturing strategies. This means CAM suggestions are based not on generic assumptions, but on actual production conditions.

What does up2parts autoCAM not do?

up2parts autoCAM does not generate NC code independently. Toolpaths and NC code are always created through hyperMILL® and the postprocessor in use. This ensures full control, safety, and compatibility with existing production processes.
